2018-2019 New Faculty/Staff at Milwee Middle School

Lauren Barnett

6th Grade Science

Ms. Barnett graduated from UCF at the end of 2017 and immediately began working with ESE students in Seminole County. She decided to take the final plunge with an opportunity to teach science at Milwee, a subject she has loved all her life. Ms. Barnett just recently got married and always enjoys time and travel with her family, including a puppy named Cooper.

Samia Fatehalla

ESE Support Facilitator
6th/7th Grade Math

Ms. Fatehalla graduated from Southeastern University last October with a masters in Exceptional Student Education. She has been in the field of education since 2005 as an ESE paraprofessional and a substitute teacher. Her goal is to provide students with a challenging and fun experience in her classroom.

April Fortin

6th/7th Grade Language Arts

Ms. Fortin is excited to be at Milwee because she is getting back to her first love: teaching middle school language arts. She loves to read, spend time with her family, travel, and shop.

Philip Hester

7th Grade Language Arts
8th Grade US History

For Mr. Hester, this will be his 15th year of teaching. He is a veteran of the US Navy, where he served as a Corpsman (medic) with the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan. He is blessed with a wonderful wife and four sons to keep life busy and full of surprises. He is excited to be a part of the Milwee family.

Vernell Leavings

Science Instructor

Mr. Leavings (aka, "V") is a single father of a 3 year old cat named Sanibel. He studied General Biology at the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!). He now hopes to pass on his love and passion for science to all of his Milwee students. Mr. Leavings is a big fan of Twizzlers and doesn't mind if people come by to drop a few off in his classroom.

Carmen Moorhouse

ESE Teacher

Ms. Moorhouse has a masters degree in Varying Exceptionalities, a certification in Elementary Education, and all of her ESOL endorsements. She has enjoyed meeting the staff at Milwee and looks forward to an exciting year. In her spare time, she likes to read, garden, feed the birds (including a pigeon) and raise butterflies.

Eric Santana

7th Grade Civics

Mr. Santana has a passion for service. After serving the nation in the Marine Corps for 8 years, he decided to serve his community as an educator. Mr. Santana hopes that this passion rubs off on his 7th Grade Civics students. When he is not in the classroom, you can find Mr. Santana on any of the beautiful hiking trails or fishing holes that Seminole County has to offer.

Dr. Kate Sullivan

7th Grade Science

Dr. Sullivan graduated from UCF with a BS in Biology (#ChargeOn) and went through Medical School at Barry University in Miami. Medicine requires long hours away from family and as her four children got older, Dr. Sullivan realized she was missing too much time with them. She retired from medicine and decided to work in education. In addition to her kids, Dr. Sullivan has two very fat cats and three very large dogs.
