The math club is comprised of students from all grade levels and from all levels of math courses. Our primary goal is to create more exposure to, appreciation for, and knowledge of various areas of mathematics. Our club meets every other Friday from 4:00 until 5:00 pm in the Media Center. We solve a wide array of mathematics problems from the traditional course level pencil and paper problems to complex engineering and building challenges. Math club students have the opportunity to attend a county-wide festival and showcase their skills.
Math Counts
MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement. At Milwee Middle School, all Math Club students participate in many facets of the MATHCOUNTS curriculum. This includes the Silver Challenge Program where students can win prizes such as $500.00 savings bonds. The top eleven performing students are invited to join the MATHCOUNTS Team. Competition begins at the Chapter Level in February. Students who place in the top twenty-five percent are invited to continue their experience by attending the Regional Competition. Mathletes who place at this event will attend the National MATHCOUNTS Competition in Washington D.C. Milwee Middle School is proud to offer this exceptional opportunity for growth and achievement to its students.
