MILWEE MISSION

The mission of Milwee Middle School Pre-Engineering Magnet is to capture and inspire students by improving our teaching techniques to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world, and then reach their full potential as lifelong learners and productive citizens.

2017-2018 New Faculty/Staff at Milwee Middle School

CHRISTINA BAUMANN
7TH GRADE MATH

Christina may look familiar because she just recently completed her senior internship at Milwee while finishing up a degree from Rollins College. She has wanted to be a teacher since the 8th Grade and admits to being a little bit of a math nerd. Originally from Long Island, New York, Ms. Baumann cheers on the Mets, but also joins Mr. Dumont and Ms. Peters in proudly rooting for the Patriots.

ALAIN MELENDEZ
PHYSICAL EDUCATION COACH

Alain was born and raised in Winter Springs. He graduated from UCF with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies, but teaching seems to be part of his DNA since both of his parents are retired Seminole County teachers. His mother, Mildred Melendez, was even selected as the Milwee Teacher of the Year in 1997. Mr. Melendez has a passion for physical activity and hopes to leave a legacy of the same passion with his students, helping them to live long and healthy lives.

NICHOLE PRESCHOD
6TH GRADE READING

Nichole is originally from Illinois, but moved to Florida in 1988 and now lives in Oviedo. She has a B.S. in Education from the University of Phoenix and became a teacher because she loves to teach students in creative ways and see their wealth of knowledge grow throughout the school year. When she is away from Milwee, you might just find Mrs. Prescod cheering from the sidelines of a soccer field where her kids play.

AMBER SALVA
7TH/8TH GRADE READING

Amber is a nature seeker from Groveland, Florida who loves to run, kayak, and explore new places. She recently moved to Lake Mary after her wedding in June. Mrs. Salva works in the teaching profession because she genuinely loves people and values giving them something lasting and real.

LILI SMITH
6TH GRADE WORLD HISTORY
8TH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS

Lili was born and raised in Florida. She even went to school at Milwee, Lyman, and eventually graduated from UCF. She became a teacher because she wanted to make a positive impact on the world around her. Ms. Smith loves to see that "ah hah!" moment when a student finally understands something. When she is away from school, she loves to read and watch movies.

JENNIFER STANCHINA
8TH GRADE LANGUAGE ARTS

Jennifer is a product of SCPS. She was born in Michigan, but spent most her life in Central Florida. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English/Language Arts from Rollins College, a Master's Degree in Reading from Nova Southeastern University, and has been working in education for about 15 years. Ms. Stanchina enjoys spending time with her family, reading novels, watching sports, and traveling.

GRETCHEN VOIT
7TH/8TH GRADE READING

Gretchen is a native of Wisconsin, even graduating as a Warhawk from the University of Wisconsin, but she has lived in Florida for the last three years. She considers every day of teaching to be a new adventure and looks forward to seeing her students RISE at Milwee. If you ever spot Mrs. Voit off campus, chances are you are either at a hockey rink, a Lacrosse field, or a beach.

KERRLEW WATSON
6TH GRADE READING

Similar to Ms. Baumann, Kerrlew may also look familiar. He served as a substitute teacher at Milwee and fell in love with the environment. Kerrlew has lived in Jamaica and New Jersey, but now calls Winter Springs a home. He graduated from Kean University and became a teacher in order to inspire and serve as a role model. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Watson likes playing soccer and spending time with his family.
